Young Professionals

How do I know if i am a yp?

Are you less than 35 years of age?

Do you have less than 7 years of experience in the water/wastewater industry?

If you answered yes to either question above, then you are a YP! This includes engineers, operators, consultants, individuals working in government, sales, manufacturing or any sector of the water/wastewater industry. Attending a YP event is an excellent opportunity to get to know people in your same industry and similar stage of life. The ultimate goal of the Young Professionals is to provide a community where we can grow together in this industry.

WHAT DO WE DO?

The WEAU YPs host monthly events, ranging from professional development, technical presentations, evening socials, plant tours, and more. Most of our events are free to attend as long as you meet the YP criteria. Some of our past events include:

Tours:

  • Grid City Beer Works Tour
  • Geneva Pipe Perfect Plant Tour
  • St. George Plant Tour
  • Snyderville Basin WRF Silver Creek Tour

Socials:

  • Annual Summer Bees Game
  • Utah Jazz Game
  • Happy Hour & Trivia at Proper Burger
  • Dinner at Level Crossing Brewery
  • BigShots Golf

Professional Development & Technical Presentations:

  • WEAU YP Involvement Panel (how to become more involved in the WEAU organization)
  • Virtual Trivia Lunch & Learns (topics included Collection Systems 101, Pretreatment Program, Biohacking)

Conferences:

  • In addition to our monthly events, we also coordinate networking opportunities at the fall Mid-Year Conference in SLC and spring Annual Conference in St. George.

How do i Join?

Joining the WEAU YPs is as simple as showing up to an event! We do encourage registration through the WEAU website for all events, but it is required if the event has a maximum capacity and/or registration fee. Both WEAU members and non-members can attend YP events, unless noted otherwise.

If you would like to volunteer to coordinate a monthly event, give a technical presentation at a virtual lunch or learn, host a plant tour, or serve on the YP Committee, email us at [email protected].
