WEFTEC 2026 Recap

WEFTEC 2026 in New Orleans is officially in the books! Many of our members and WEAU volunteers were able to connect in NOLA through social events, in the expo hall, cheering for our operations challenge teams and award winners, and at technical sessions. See below for a brief recap and highlight of WEAU's success and camaraderie at this year's WEFTEC conference.

Award winners

Congratulations to Navneet Prasad on winning the WEF Emerson Distinguished Service Medal and Sarah Ward on receiving the WEF Volunteer Service Recognition. Brian Hilts also received recognition for his time serving as Chair of the WEF Disinfection & Public Health Community. WEAU is proud of all of you and your dedication to building up the water community!

operations challenge

WEAU was fortunate to send three teams to compete at WEFTEC in the Operations Challenge for the second year in a row. Congratulations to all of our team members for representing WEAU well on the national stage, showing great sportsmanship, confidence, and determination. Shout out to Central Valley (Wasted Gas) for placing 3rd in the Maintenance Event in Division II! Thank you to all of our awesome members who volunteered as event judges and showed up to cheer loudly for our Utah teams!

student design competition

Our University of Utah Student Chapter competed in the annual Student Design Competition in the Circular Water Economy division, presenting about their wastewater design project for a community in Costa Rica. Way to go U of U students!

building community

In between the formal WEFTEC events, our WEAU contingent found each other to connect. See below for a few photos highlighting our members!
